Offshore Oil and Gas Jobs increase; the Oil and gas industry employs over nine million workers from white collar to entry level, A large part of this work is in the offshore oil gas rig work which has a high demand for workers.

Not only are Offshore Oil and Gas Jobs on the increase; there is a large turnover and new positions are being created daily. Oil Companies and Drilling rig owners are hiring all over the world as new seabed fields are being discovered.

Interested offshore rig worker applicants should consider using a company that specializes in offshore placements. The applicant should look for companies that have their own rig worker  resume service. These companies are experienced in assisting with rig work resumes and cover letters and some offer this service  free.

There has not been a better time to apply for a oil gas rig worker job. If you are between 20 and 50 years old, in good health, will be willing to be away from home for 2 to 3 weeks at a time, now is a good time to pursue an oil gas platform job.

The time being away from home is a hardship for young families though some cope with it very well, this factor is one reason for a continuing turnover. This Job is great for a single person.

There are openings for many trades as well as entry level positions. Women as well as men are hired. If you are a certified rig welder, electrician, pipe fitter, boiler maker, sheet metal worker, insulator, carpenter, millwright, engineer, chemist, internet technician, doctor, nurse, medic, roughneck, roustabout, tool dresser and the list goes on.

Most oil producers and drilling companies try and make life comfortable for their workers. Expect to find gourmet cooks, recreation areas, lounge with TV pool table and movies, gym facilities, laundromat, high speed internet. etc.

Shift schedules typically are 3 weeks on and 3 weeks off. Some offshore platforms have a 2 week rotation. Shifts are normally twelve hours on and twelve hours off.

For employees  that live a long way from the debarkation point, travel allowance is provided.

Wages are typically twice that for the same work on shore. So a worker will work for one half year total and get paid for a whole year. It is common for a Rig Worker to make $50,000. to over $100,000 a year depending on trade, and experience. Remember that is for one half years work as the Rig Worker will spend as much time off the rig as on.

Safety training and drills are to be expected as the safety of all on board and smooth operation of the entire rig is a responsibility shared by each and everyone.

Teamwork is a must as any individual may be called upon to cover for another that is sick, injured or for some reason there is a short crew.

Safety gear and special clothes are furnished including foul weather gear.

So if you want adventure, to make good money, or maybe are unemployed and the mortgage is over due, oil gas offshore rig work might be for you. You can go to work in a chopper and the fishing is great.
