The January 6, 2010 Wall street Journal article by Ben Casselman and Guy Chazan tells of massive oil reserves found between Africa and South America. These deep water reserves are enticing “Big Oil” to invest in the massive rigs and floating platforms to harvest this oil.

Deepwater production has increased from 1 million barrels a day in 1997 to over 6million barrels a day in 2008.

Oil consumption has risen by 5.4 million barrels a day while production has risen by just 4.8 million barrels a day in the last five years.

More oil gas rigs are being built and even more, larger rigs, floating platforms and drilling ships are on the drawing board.

So you see in a time when unemployment is at the highest since the “Great Depression”, there has never been a better time to seek  oil rig employment.

These jobs are good high paying jobs available on offshore oil gas platform rigs ; and they include many trades, crafts and a variety of entry level positions.

Oil is Here to stay- Rig Worker Jobs Safe

I f you are considering a career in the offshore oil rig worker field and are
worried about the decline of oil production due to “Global Warming Alarmists” or the advent of “Green Technology” such as wind power, solar power or green auto fuel (made from corn or other farm crops and organic waste) forget about it; oil is here to stay.

It is economically impossible to replace oil and natural gas pumped from below the earths surface with any existing or new technology.
To satisfy your self just follow the market and see where the smart money is being invested. Even Boon Pickens is rethinking his massive wind farm in Texas.

Governor Elect Robert Mc Donnell of Virginia has petitioned Interior Secretary Ken Salazar to commence offshore drilling in the Virginia coast. There has been a 25 year moratorium on offshore drilling that expired last year.

More offshore oil rigs are being built and are on the drawing board for offshore oil fields globally. Some of these are costing as much as a billion US Dollars each.
